ALEMANIA ANTIGUOS ESTADOS: OLDENBURGO. 1858. Cover franked with 1/15 thaler black and rose (Mi. 3), prepaying the 2 sgr. Gapu postage on a single weight letter to the UNITED STATES, with the 11 Sgr. balance paid in cash (note the ´13 paid 2/11´ notation). Stamps tied by blue FRANCO handstamp, with framed DELMENHORST datestamp alongside. Although endorsed ´via Havre´, this letter was sent to the U.S. in the Prussian Closed Mails, and shows the red AACHEN/PAID transit cds with integral ´25 Cts´ credit, plus the red N.YORK AM.PKT arrival datestamp with ´30 PAID´ indication. Despite stamp corner faults, a very rare transatlantic cover from Oldenburg.
